skip it.....I dont think amex is going to play nice with active collections
I have a starwoods card with a 7,000.00 limit and a blue with a 4,000.00 limit. I got both of them with a 668 experian score and 8 unpaid medical collections. I don't see why the original poster could not have similar results.
wow that gives me hope.. i also have a great salary to help out...i make 120,000 a year..with those numbers .. im thinking ill try for the blue .. whatcha thinkin? which report did they pull of yours?

Some creditors tend to ignore medical collections in their scoring model. Amexmay be one since it is my understand ing that they use a special scoring system. I have one paid collection from 2002 for 62.00 and Amex's response to me was 'collections account 1-2 years old' in their reason for denial.
That could explain it. I don't have any baddies other than medical. They are the result of a local hospital listing me as responsible party for ex for 5 yrs after divorce. In other words, check your report often. If I had I wouldn't have 8 collections.
You could try for Delta Amex and see if you might get it. Since the CA are from 2001, they might play less importance. Delta Amex seems to be easier to get the foot into the door.
