Be very, very careful about the number of inquiries you have when applying for this card. They flat-out told me they would have approved me had I not had several inquiries over the preceding weeks - and my scores are in the low-to-mid 600s.
Keep in mind this was MY experience, and not necessarily indicative of what you might experience.
I applied...was turned down...called the backdoor number...and told point-blank "If you didn't have these recent inquiries, I would approve you now" (verbatim). Again, my experience only.
Umm...about that experience...persistence pays...was approved with $1,500 limit after second recon call to explain that my auto dealer had run 25 (that's TWENTY-FIVE) pulls through various lenders AFTER my auto deal was signed, sealed and delivered.
Rep asked a few more questions ( verified income, circumstances behind BK7)...approved me
What was your file like at the time? When I reconed a credit limit (1300) and wanted them to match my highest card (3000) they turned me down due to previous CO's I was also at 40% utilization, which he didnt mention, but I know that was a factor. I was at 645. I should be near 700 with less than 10% util.
He asked me about my previous charge offs (3 from 2006) and i properly explained. I didn't want to argue or call back because I don't want my account flagged and watched for the next 6 months. I'm gonna garden regardless, but don't want to give them a reason.
I also had 10 years of history and AAoA at 6 years. Still even now, tempted to call back and ask for 3k

Brother, I can only speak for myself...and I feel blessed to be approved for what is, in my estimation, a card that is a shade from prime with a 654 TU score. I'm fully prepared and happy to garden this (and a couple others I recently opened) for 6-12 months and see where the auto CLI takes me. I suspect as the accounts age and util is paid down, Barclays will reward us in due time
Right on. There is supposedly an Auto CLI or check at the 6th statement i hear

Why would they shotgun your scire like that!!!
Sorry if this is a dumb question. If you get approved for 1500 for a new macbook, would that kill your utilization ratio once you make you purchase and Max out the card. Again apologies for the newbie question.

Believe me, they feel as bad as anyone else about it. The dealership is contacting all the superfluous inquiry sources for removal (2 are already gone...and it's only been three days since I notified them).
However, this marks the importance of being able to actually talk to someone about it. The credit analyst completely understood and told me that it happens on occasion. In the end, no harm done as long as the other 23 are removed
