I've never heard of this happening. I had one from 2002 to 2017 (with odd $2025 limit) and it was always a store card only.

Seems like it's a thing? Never heard of it myself nor does it look appealing but it does exist I guess though it looks like you'd have to apply fresh and it's not connected to the store card
Yeah, the card definitely exists. You can choose which one to apply for (mine was originally a Texaco card that they converted to Shell around 2003 or 2004 and there was no bankcard version back then that I recall), but I have never heard of the regular card being upgraded to a bankcard.
