But what did make me laugh (in a cruel cynical way of course) was an older thread yesterday, where someone posted that they had updated their signature (twice) to update the APR on one of their ~ 20 cards. It reminded me of people new to, say, Facebook, constantly adjusting their status "Going to the kitchen", "Making lunch", "Eating lunch". I really doubt that many people looked at that person's sig in detail, and checking to see if an APR had changed.
Then there are those that include Credit Sesame "Excellent Credit" badge in their sig......
@Anonymous. That is funny @LTL. I thought I was the only one that those post on FB drove crazy. Deactivated it in 2008 and have never looked back since.
@Anonymous,
I agree with you. I have to confess when I first joined, I didn't have pictures of CCs in my siggy but had it listed thus the type of cards and limits. And then one day, it dawn me, what exactly was I trying to accomplish by listing those in my signature?
We are on a board where there are people who are trying to rebuild their credits, others seeking credit etc. So personally I felt listing the card displayed "narcissistic tendencies" so I deleted it.
I felt it was like seeking recognition, popularity etc. and that was not the reason I joined the board.
Just to give you a little input - when I first joined here and saw all the cards everyone had, it motivated me to push further rather than assume people were trying to brag. People worked hard to qualify for some of their cards and they earned the right to display them publicly.
I said my personal opinion of why I deleted my signature. Not an assuming anything. I am gald you saw it that way.
I know what you said, and I said it movated me to push futher, rather than causing me to assume people were trying to brag.
Actually that is the exact post immediately prior to this thread.
And for what it's worth.....
the OP of the thread in question is 21 years old with fewer than seven months of credit history and 17 cards (mostly store cards). He states he has not applied in three to four weeks and will not be doing so for another few years but we will see.
@Anonymous wrote:I think the 18-year-old with 15+ cards may be in this thread http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/18-starting-out/td-p/4723635
Personally have 19 cards so I don't think 15 cards is technically a bad choice.. As long as cards are used responsibly.
If you seek a mortgage in the future the high potential DTI will cost a fortune!

Ooh ok. Gotcha.
I may have been mistaken about the age of poster. How this ever got confused as being critical of peoples credit cards showing in their signatures I still can not figure out.

I was the one who brought up the CC pictures, as every time a new post is made, we stare at them! How it affects you seeing them is your thing. If you gotta shrink em down crazy to fit, that's gotta be a ton of work. There's howtos on here as stickies lol.
I consider the effort to putting up the pics, with mouse over accurate info (wow) instead of a simple list borderline excessive… but as a rebuilder myself I know the struggle and the little accomplishments.
LOL. I will admit that I spent way too much time putting my pics in but I was on vacation.

Once you are approved for a superior card you should close the weaker ones, not collect them. I've scaled down all my redundancies, and it didn't make me feel a ghost limb or emotional loss!
Ford guy, I'm a Ford guy. What's up? What kind of Ford do you have?
