Is a target store card a good card for overall credit building?
Hi @Anonymous, and welcome to myFICO!
I've moved your post to a new thread to get your question more exposure.

It's ok. It's generally pretty easy to get but limits are small and they only increase it when they feel like increasing it, you can't ask for a CLI like you can most other cards.
yes
It can be is used correctly. Target and TD bank are very odd about the store card. They will give you a CLI when they want you to have one.
Over the course of time and your credit is worthy of the upgrade, they upgrade the card to Mastercard. Some people get it upgraded anywhere from 2 to 7 years.
I like it because the 5% comes right off the top, you get free 2nd shipping on orders over $35.00, and a few other perks. I really like being able to make payments in the store as well.

It shows up on my report, I can sock drawer it and use the app on my phone to pay at checkout, and it's 5% off, what's not to like? (Other than it will eat a Chase 5/24 slot for a while, I guess.) I don't have a huge CL with it, but I'm not buying 4 digits of stuff at Target at a time anyway.
Yes, it's a good card, that is if you keep up with it and make your payments on time. You can not ask for a CLI, they will give it to you when and if they feel you deserve it. My card started out at $350 and within a year and a half it was at $3800. I also like the perks that come with this card.....free shipping at Target.com, 5% back on all purchases.
Appreciate all the feedback guys I think I'm gonna apply once I'm done fighting this last derogatory on my report !
I was declined a Target credit card with my 800+ score, long history and spotless credit reports. Their algorithm must be wrong so I went with the debit card instead.
