So I am trying to understand the following...
I was at 782 accoding to Discover TU in mid Aug.. I apped for a Chase Amazon on Aug. 20th then on Sept. 16th apped for the Sallie Mae card. My AAoA before apping for these 2 stood at ~5.5yrs.
Expecting a hit on my score opened Discover account today and was pleasantly surpried to see a gain of +1. CK reported opening of my Sallie Mae but not the Chase Amazon.
I understand my Util might have gone down but I thought I would still get hit negatively by the 2 Hard Pulls and drop in AAoA.My score did change so atleast one new TL must have been added.
Should I expect the hit next month ? Otherwise I'm getting tempted to App more.... lol ....meditates... "Stay in the garden.. stay in the garden...
I would not trust the score Discover gives you, and especially not the score CK gives you. It sounds like everything hasn't hit yet. If you apply again, perhaps you'll be approved. But your scores, I predict, will take a significant hit after that.
Agreed. My Credit Karma score is 30 points below my TU FICO. They have a very wacky model.

Discover gives a FICO score. I absolutely trust it. If you mean that Discover's score may not be up to date on the inqs, that may be, but the score they give is trustworthy. CK, not so much.
Yes, Discover Fico is fine, but Credit Karma a much different story.

The score Discover has provided me is significantly lower than the scores on the reports I've pulled on the very same day it says it's reporting the score; so low that no one would give me any credit with that score - and yet, they did, big time. As such, I personally don't trust it.
Yes, I dont go by CK score but I do think Discover score should be accurate or atleast close. I know there are different Fico models but from what I hear/read Discover is using a current model.
I was actually hoping that could I be in that sweet spot where adding TL with high CL could actually offset the negative influence of the hard pulls and drop in AAoA.
I guess I will know in a month or so
Btw, I've been reading Chase pulls all 3 CR. Is that true even if I have an existing card (Chase Freedom).

I'm in the same boat; anxious to see what the real impact is of the new accounts.
Chase didn't pull my EQ, oddly.
MyFico recently went to Fico 08 the same scoring model Discover uses. A lot of lenders still use Fico 04.

Haven't heard of Chase ever doing more than a double pull, and rarely at that.
Are you thinking of CapOne? They triple every time I believe.
