What happen today is just reinforcing the claim of not feeling comfortable sharing the tax return under no circumstances and really is not important if one can do with or without Amex account and i hope you get it Scenery
Won't be apping for these guys...ever. Thanks for the notification.
I just checked and I have access to my documents and only my documents. No notification about not being able to view documents on my account page or anything. If there is a issue USAA is pretty good about comunicating to its members they dont hide stuff its not BoA. Exactly what other documents where you able to view that did not belong to you?Not asking for names or anything just wondering was it Insurance forms? bank statements? tax forms?. Was it multiple people are is it possible the system may have crossed linked your member number to another person? I am going to give them a call Monday or Tuesday and ask about this.
I have a friend whose an IT consultant and have been doing it for the past 20 or 30 years. Even to this day, she refuses to have any kind of online access to her bank accounts, credit cards and even insurance.
She always told me regardless of security protocols, systems can always be compromised.
Hopefully USAA makes this right by its customers without us having to ask. They should offer a year of Credit Monitoring to those affected or something along those lines.

I certainly hope USAA will do the right thing and notify its members and provide them with Free CMS without us having to ask for it or to fend for ourselves.
A friend of mine had her SSN and other personal info compromised due to the negligence of a State Employee. And the State gave her and the thousands of other affected citizens (if it wasn’t millions that were affected) Free Credit Monitoring for an entire year.
Sure, that affected the State’s budget, but it was the right thing to do.
And I hope USAA will do the right thing too and offer Free Credit Monitoring for a year.

Similiar thing happened when Playstation Network was hacked. They gave the users affected by it a free year of identity theft protection. It might be time for me to switch to Charles Schwab for checking if USAA doesn't at least try to make it right.
From USAA:
"Please note there was a technical issue last weekend during a system upgrade in which some personal member information could possibly have been visible to another USAA member on USAA.com. We identified the error within one hour of its occurrence, and immediately retracted the information to limit exposure.
From the information we have gathered, there is no indication of any fraudulent activity related to this occurrence. Furthermore, we are taking precautions to prevent this from happening again. We did want to make you aware of the situation. In response to this incident, we are taking the appropriate steps to notify and protect the identification of the people whose information was made available.
The protection and security of our member’s personal information is our top priority"
That looks good, but need to see any follow up. Coming from a very large corporate culture, this sort of thing looks familiar. From us, it would mean: Damn, somebody has leaked that we had a issue, let's put out an email telling them all is OK". Maybe from USAA it means more!
Particularly: "The protection and security of our member’s personal information is our top priority" You rarely see a corporation saying "Yes, security of our members personal information is certainly on our list of to-dos."
