On the bright side, at least I know I’m not the only one pacing the floor after polishing off a bottle of wine trying to figure out what to do with all of these Marriott points (and MRs and URs that usually get shoveled over to Marriott). And of course my Starwood card closes tomorrow and I’ll end up with another 53,000 or so since I already hit my first $10k bonus. Amazing how often I was able to use my SPG in France.
In the end what it comes down to is a reminder that with this game you should always be using points and not sitting on them for too long, because the rug can be pulled out from underneath you. Easier said than done, but you just never know.

Same. Sitting on 220k+ points with my sisters' incoming as well and...well it sucks to say the least.
101K SPG. Ritz Carlton 1,227,613 points

2 Bottle of REMY MARTIN LOUIS XIII COGNAC 750ML and phone in one hand talking to JP Morgan private client services. I’m not getting anywhere with them. 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Many with 100k+ points and I’m freaking out over my own 30k.

Yea I'd be drinking pretty heavily right about now if I was sitting on those types of numbers.
I have to admit I”m a point hoarder.
It looks like I’m going to be a Marriott point millionaire.......We decided on taking a air/night package to Hawaii 390k points to burn some and then reload. The 120k AA miles will add to my ungodly AA miles hoard.
So, work hard and play hard for free!
Who plans on cancelling their SPG card due to the combination of programs? I myself will strongly consider it when my year is up in March.

Don't sit on points! They never increase in value. Rarely do they retain the same value over time. Usually they gradually decline in value. And sometimes they decline rapidly in value when airlines and hotels nerf their rewards programs. I've finally burned down my United MileagePlus account to zero after carrying several hundred thousand miles for nearly a decade. I plan to wipe out my American AAdvantage account balance within the year. My Marriott and Hilton points have been gone for a while. My only point balance of consequence is Chase Ultimate Rewards, and I will transfer those points to United within the year to redeem them on international flights. I've intentionally shifted everyday spending away from my Chase card to a cash back card to slow the growth of my UR balance.

Good points. My upcoming 2 weeks in Ireland for 3 people has cleaned out most of my points. All I have are 80k Southwest, 100k Hyatt and 33k American. I plan to spend my 100k of Hyatt this Summer. I had planned to load up on SPG and Marriott next. Get an SPG for the wife. Get Marriott Business and SPG Business for myself.
