Amex BCP gives 6 percent back on groceries and 3 percent on gas. It has a $95 fee but comes with a $250 sign up bonus so that should be good for the first 2 years. BCE gives 3 percent on groceries comes with $250 sign up bonus and no annual fee. I think BOA 3-2-1 you can make your 3 percent category groceries if you so desire. I think $150 sign up bonus and no annual fee.
One thing you can check is whether Amazon sells gift cards for any of the grocery stores where you shop. I mostly go to Giant around here and Amazon sells their gift cards in $50 increments. Since I have the Chase Amazon Visa that's automatic 5% cashback as long as I plan ahead and buy the gift cards before I go. Also, if you shop at Whole Foods, you can look into the Square Cash debit card, 10% off at Whole Foods up to $75 total bill and you can use it every 90min or so (I think?). If you shop at Target for groceries, you can look into getting a redcard for 5% off there.

Yes, but if you most of your groceries at Walmart, Target or wholesale club Amex only gives you 1% on BCP/BCE. And no, unfortunately on the BoA Cash Rewards you can only set the 3% category to gas, dining, travel, drug stores or home improvement, it gives 2% on groceries and can't be changed but at least it does give 2% at Walmart if the store codes a groceries on the Visa network, which mine does.
If you’re eligible for NFCU, the More Rewards AMEX is a 3% gas, 3% groceries, 2% restaurants, 1% everything else card.
Its a better option than the BCE if you can deal with $50 minimum for cash redemption (gift cards start at $10 for redemption). Their portal offers travel and concerts as well as cash back, gift cards, and merchandise plus the Member Deals allow you to earn extra cash back starting at 2% for shopping at specific stores.
They’re offering $300 for $3000 of spend in the first 90 days right now. It’s not as generous as Savor but it’s a more useful card with no AF going forward.

Target card gives you 5 percent off Target. Wallmart card gives you 3 percent off of Walmart. If you are doing all your grocery shopping there one of those cards is probably your best bet.
