Re: What is your "check spending" ability with Amex?

Amex views it to be a tool, not a toy to relieve boredom, if no purchase follows repeated check spending inquiries, account is flagged for check spending/ no purchase internally and is not a good look, though not a big factor in Amex scoring, it does compute and together with other flags can lead to unintended consequences.

I think Amex puts it there just to tempt people.  Like the apple in the garden of Eden.  Y'all will have to answer to Saint C.F. Frost for your sins!

I just tried on my PRG that I haven't even recieved yet and was approved for 35k. That's kinda cool. Just a month ago that would have been almost half my yearly income.

I just put in a ridiculous amount and got declined, hope that doesn't hurt me in some way.

I think that should go without saying. Lenders will do just about everything they can to prevent a loss, and part of that is collecting as much data on us as possible. Im sure I'd be approved for a $35,000 charge but  that's irrelevant to me.

The only time I even thought of using this tool (I ended up not doing so) was when my limit was $5,600 and I was going on a trip. But now, Im satisfied with being able to put a car on my AMEX.
