Most Credit unions beat Simmons APRs by a mile! I still don't get the allure?🤔
I agree. I guess the belief is shows you have arrived (credit wise), in the way that the masses believe the Amex Plat does. But with the Simmons, it's a much smaller group, if any, who would be impressed. (And rewards wise, like getting the Plat, using it for all spend, and redeeming for statement credit. It's getting the card that gives the satisfaction, not the rewards)
If I had time, LongTermLurker Bank would offer the super exclusive ReallyReallyHardToGet (TM) card, which we would give to less than 0.001% of applicants (at random, who has time to do a real analysis!) and the card has a surcharge on every purchase, so a $100 purchase would cost you $101. Not as good as regular rewards, but hey, it's exclusive!

2) Within the first 30 seconds of sitting down at the restaurant he "joked" that he had to be home by 7 or his wife would think he had a new side-piece -- but ha ha jk what she didn't know wouldn't hurt her.
3) He was rude to the waitstaff.
4) He asked me if I was a natural blonde.
I'm sorry that my charm offensive didn't work but do you have to tell EVERYONE on the internet??? If you just give me one more chance....
And as for why I have the card when I don't travel: I didn't get it, I'm an AU on my mother's card, but I don't usually tell my dates that.
Absolutely dead.
I thumbs up this 10 times if I could.

That made me laugh out loud.
My ex-SO was a natural blonde, friends and family would ask her that if they really wanted to spin her up. (I knew better  )
Even though she knew she was being trolled she couldn't help herself from taking the bait. The reaction could be...quite spectacular.
I wish his query was that innocent. Unfortunately he was asking about the carpeting vs. the drapes.

Slightly off topic; regarding the date... at first I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt on using the Platinum; perhaps he just knew it would 'work' no-fuss, no-muss (similar to what I mentioned above), but then it was mentioned that he was rude to the wait staff, and that's a full-stop for me. I've never known anybody who was rude to a server who was a nice person otherwise. "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time." - Maya Angelou
Amen, brother! There's a special place in Hell for people who beat up on service industry personel. And I agree -- that's one of those behaviors that's very character revealing.

If the design was shiny enough I'd app for that. And you know, metal. Because nothing says "winner!" like a credit card that screws up your wallet.

If a girl on a date asked me if I was a natural blonde I wouldn't take offense. Maybe she wants blonde haired kids.
One thing that annoyed me though is my hair turned from strawberry blonde to straight blonde in my early 40s. My mom repeatedly asked me if I was dyeing my hair. Asking once is fine repeatedly asking is an issue and from my own mom.
Except that wasn't really what he was asking me...
I just didn't want to spell it out because this is a PG forum. Or at least PG-13.
Amex BCE.
If you dont hand the card to the cashier, no one will know its metal unless you accidenty "drop it"

Sounds like he was quite the interior decorator! 😇
