For many years I did all my business banking with TD Bank.
1. After I got one of their credit cards I had to go to 2 separate websites, 1 for my credit card, 1 for the checking accounts.
2. I was never able to get any customer service on the website; was always told to phone.
3. I was never able to get any customer service by phone; was always told I needed to go into a branch.
4. At the branch I was always told to sit down, and wait, for 15 minutes, and never could get out in less than 30 minutes.
5. They had arbitrarily low, fixed limits for online wire transfers; had to go into the branch and waste 30 minutes or more each time I needed to do a routine wire transfer.
6. Their teller sold me on signing up for a personal checking account with no maintenance fees. After I had the account, they changed the terms, adding a maintenance fee, but never told me. They assessed the maintenance fee, created an overdraft of $3 and change, then assessed a $35 overdraft fee, causing the account to be overdrawn $38 and change, then closed the account, wrote it off, and reported it as a chargeoff to Chex Systems. I only learned of it months later when I was turned down for a different account at another bank, due to a Chex Systems item. I then ordered my report, saw the chargeoff which I had never known about, went back into the branch and paid it off, then filed multiple dispute letters until they finally withdrew the negative item. While all this was going on, I was going into the branch virtually every single day, and no one ever breathed a word about it to me although I was known to all the tellers and all the front office people.
7. Their business credit card reported to my personal credit, which is wrong.
8. When I first discussed my interest in credit with the head teller, she recommended that I go to Credit Karma to learn about credit. The worst credit advice I have ever received.
9. They usually had long slow moving lines at the teller windows.10. When I finally decided to close my accounts with them, they wouldn't do it unless I came into the branch. When I came in and closed them, the officer -- who'd known me personally for around 10 years -- didn't even ask me why.
Yes, but apart from that, were there any problems!
No. Other than that it was... well.... mediocre
I'm in the MA/RI area so I like having a nunber of branches in the area incase I have to stop in for something. It's rare but comes in handy when I do. Only problem I've had with them is when I was connecting an outside bank to do a transfer. I've been able to do it without an issue in the past but for this case, they wanted me to stop into a branch to prove the account is mine. Then it took about a week to set up. Other than that, they have been decent.
I received my CLI denial letter today. Reasons are -
Serious delinquency and public record or collection filed - (BK discharged 4/22)
Proportion of loan balances to loan amounts is too high - Huh!? My loan is paid down to 9%
Number of accounts with delinquency - Only before I filed BK. Everything has been 100% since.
Time since delinquency is too recent or unknown
Most of my other cards have been growing nicely. Maybe TD is on the conservative side with this.

I tried for a complementary denial and found TD is geofenced and not available in Michigan.
I am amused I was denied amusement.
TD tried to come out West, mostly to get into California. They bid on BBVA, Union Bank and Bank of The West but lost to PNC, US Bank and their home (Canada) rival, BMO, respectfully. After losing Bank of The West to BMO, they went back home to 'Jersey and approached First Horizon (Tennessee) to buy First Horizon. First Horizon agreed but then the government found very, very bad holes in TD's anti money laundering process. TD called off the merger (as it was clearly not going to be approved). TD is currently in big trouble with the goverment and likely won't be able to acquire any other banks for a while.
Even with just being an Eastern Seabord bank, TD has managed to become the 10th/13th largest bank in the US (depending on what you consider a bank). After cancelling the First Horizon merger in 2023, they stated that they intend to grow organically (build branches without buying another bank) in the Mid South. I rather like their colors (perfect shade of green) and the imposing TD name and logo.
Their products seem rather ordinary but I could see someone wanting the Double Up (2%) card if they were also a banking client.
@SouthJamaica is spot on. TD is just bad all around.
My experience with TD has been consistently horrible. I’ve been with the bank since 2021.
I’m bicoastal with residential addresses in New York and California. When I applied for a CLI a few months ago, their fraud department went crazy and told me I have to go into a branch.
Both addresses appear on my credit report. I’ve written to the executive offices, and they are no help. However, TD keeps sending me secure messages through their system which keeps denying me access to view the messages.
A couple of years ago, their voice print system decided that I was someone else. No one would help me at TD. I had to wait to fly back to New York to visit a branch.
From their lackluster credit cards to their horrible phone reps to their backwards systems, I’m done with them.
I have 2 accounts with Td bank checking and Visa cash back with 14K limit, the checking was open back in 2007 in Florida with small bank which was bought out by TD bank in 2008. I now live in ny have over 60K sitting in my checking account for last year. Last month wanted to re order checks they wanted to charge me 29 dollars for the book of checks got no where on phone and in branch. The banks don't feel like banks they feel like stores, they just got hit with 3 billions in fines. I am going to close the account and move over to chase at some point go citi where I do have other money with.
Just another thing I was asking what others thought saks vs NOrdstrom credit was like, I was thinking of opening Nordstrom visa card, but don't know if I would do that now because the Nordstrom card is back by TD bank.

I'd rather have a Nordstrom card backed by TDBank versus a Saks card backed by Comenity.
Chapter 13:
I categorically refuse to do AZEO!
Can you give reasons why you rather have Nordstrom visa over the Saks creditcard, yes I did try to take advantage of the sak's pre approval but had problems with the website, may be the shopping at Nordstrom's is nicer at Nordstrom's over saks. also the saks cards do not generate hard ull ofr opening the account.

I view the above as two different questions:

Could you give detail reasons for your answers such as why you think TD bank nordstorm is better then saks.
