Hey so I ended up telling them because they just told me that on their end there’s no disputes or anything!! But I got credited the funds back to me. how does that work if they never got a dispute but I got my money back?! My main question is how did I get my funds back / credited to my account. but they still got paid. ??Plus now if it happens they seem like they will work with me to just pay the normal fee of 2500 vs the 2500 plus 20% because I said something rather not pay 3k or go to court for that plus more.

I say for the time being "dont look a gift horse in the mouth." Just wait for everything to go through the process and work itself out. There's a possibility this is not the end of it. And if it is, count your blessings. GL2U

Re: AMEX Credit Dispute question

Yeah Right. But I’m glad I said something. She was very understanding it was a mistake. So she said on their end, there is no disputes or anything so worse case their just add it to my new card. So they don't charge me twice.

Re: AMEX Credit Dispute question

You're playing with fire here. You really shouldn't have contacted them because now you admitted you know the terms and are officially on the hook for this. I hope this doesn't blow up in your face.

Re: AMEX Credit Dispute question

The credit card temporarily refund you the money while they investigate. They’re not worried about getting the funds back from the merchant because they’ll do a charge back if they determine appropriate and get their money back.

It is very concerning that you contacted them because they have not yet been contacted for the dispute by the credit card company.

You started a dispute, they have certain timelines they have to follow and they are going to be in contact with that company. Now this company is going to say we spoke with the client the dispute was a mistake and the charge will probably be put back on your card. I agree you just put yourself on the hook, but if you’re cool with that that’s all that matters.

Re: AMEX Credit Dispute question

And if you’re effectively canceling the dispute then you should probably communicate that to your credit card company rather than leaving them in the dark to find out from the merchant.

Re: AMEX Credit Dispute question

Because if you are agreeing with them and you’re agreeing to pay it, then that’s what you’re doing is effectively canceling your dispute.
