Is there a feature on the personal amex side where you can set spending limits...like how you can on the biz side?

Yes, but I think the limit is $200. While I don't want her to ever be stranded, I also don't want her maxing the card out, so I wish I could go lower.

I get purchase notifications, so a bunch of $10 and $20 swipes won't get by me.  You could set those up along with the spend limit for safety.  Then if she is stranded, you can easily lift the spend limit temp.

Problem with that is it's after the fact. You can't decline a charge attempting to go through. I'd rather raise the limit as needed.

Yeah, I know what you're saying but I guess that's all we can do.  How fun is it to tell an old lady, "$top that!"  lol, hahahahaha......not something I'd want to do. Smiley Embarassed I'd rather blame it on a "glitch" even though that would be a lie.Smiley Tongue

No other ccc has that ability do they?  Either you freeze or lock but are there limits you can apply on other cards?

At least like in OP's situation; right when the card is realized missing/stolen you can be a little proactive and shut things down...but the spend limit seems to be the best safe guard for fraud anyway.

Sorry...that went over my head.  Yeah, you can't stop them but at least it's a heads up somethings not right.  My son's Walmart card went through that, took fooooorever to get Synchrony and then CapOne to get rid of those pending charges.  Over 6 weeks, he wouldn't use the card cause they'd come and go in the pending/posted.  Idk why we can't lower the limit.
