Address update prompted Sync off-cycle report?

Sync reported my high bal the other day. I hadn't used the card in weeks, though. So, I don't believe that the high bal was the trigger.

I got a CLI a few wks ago. I think that they would have reported around the same time if that was the trigger.

I updated my address the day before one of the bureau report dates. So, I imagine this is what triggered it. This actually made me think of a post that I saw the other day. OP mentioned that they updated their income. This info is actually on the same page as the address.

Luckily, my normal statement cut is a few days from now and I already see how the bal has affected all bureau scores. So, if I want to, I can just pay down my bal before statement cut. Take that, Sync! 😜

Synchrony is known for reporting off cycle unpredictably.

@SouthJamaica Yeah, but I'm wondering if they are as random as we think. I think that they report when certain activities occur. They did this to me at least 3 times in the past and I eventually realized that each time that they did it, it was after I made a purchase that they flagged as possibly fraudulent.

Well I don't know. I never stayed around long enough as a Synchrony customer to find out.  I've just read it in these forums, and I'm sure most of the reports I read didn't mention fraud alerts as a trigger.

I can confirm that Synchrony will report the balances when you update your address. It has happened both times that I updated my address with Synchrony.

Can't confirm changing of address as a trigger but I did noticed the other day after I called in on one of my Sync accounts and changed the due date the request triggered an update to my credit reports.

The due date change doesn't go into effect until Jan.
