I applied for the Blue Cash Preferred Card earlier this month. I was pre-approved but my application was declined. I found it was because they couldn't pull my credit score. I was able to get a Google Synchrony card to pay off my new Pixel in October with no hitches.
I called American Express and was forwarded to New Accounts where they told me I had no credit history and no FICO score so they did not approve my application. I definitely have a credit history for more than a decade and they only told me I would have to contact TransUnion and/or Experian.
I've since called both. I can't get in touch with a live person at Experian and TransUnion says that I have no locks, freezes, are alerts and all the information I provided is correct. TransUnion says that American Express was able to pull my credit report on two separate occasions (American Express tried to manually do my application at my request after I faxed them my credit reports with my scores on top). They also told me that they use Vantage 3.0 and not FICO, so maybe I should tell American Express that.
I've been calling these three companies for the past month and have gotten almost nowhere.
I finally got someone in New Accounts at American Express that tried to help and told me that they were able to pull a credit report from TU but it didn't show a score. They were not able to pull a report from Experian.
Has anyone run into this issue and resolved it? I can't figure out what is going on and TU and American Express keep pointing fingers at each other/don't escalate to someone that may be able to help. Half my time has been spent trying to talk to someone helpful who doesn't recite pre-written lines to me.
Wondering if this is where a "Split file" could be considered (?)....idk, hopefully others will chime in on what could be going on. GL!
Edit: Have you tried pulling your Annualcreditreport.com for all three?
Yep! I pulled my credit report for all three using that website.
Do split files tend to happen? Do I just inquire with TU and Experian to see if they possibly have split files?
Does anyone know how to get in touch with an actual person on Experian?
