Makes no sense.  Same three  cards - nothing about Cabellas. Also no email about anything. Have checked junk mail also..

OP, it sounds like you were offered a pre-qualified offer and proceeded with the final step.  I just tried it for s&g's and there were naturally no offers (pre-qualification is only for 3 of their CCs which I'm aware that I wouldn't qualify for QS1, Platinum or Secured).  Therefore, there were no HPs.

I'd wager to say the CapOne Prequalify tool is used quite often around these parts. And, I can't say I've ever heard of any error that led to an HP. That said, as others have mentioned, if you went just one step too far, you would have actually submitted an application.

OP, did you ever enter your income in?

The pre-qual page "app" doesn't have an income field, where the following "real" app does ask for income.

Actually, that's not correct, it does.  My screenshot above is cropped.  It also has the field for monthly rent/mortgage.

This short form application is not for the Cabela's MC.  There is no pre-qualification tool for that particular card since it is through Cabela's own website.

Yes ,it does ask for your income on the preapproval page- see below. I pasted the text from that page. I also pasted the link above to that page.

Let's say I did mistakenly continue the application. Why no email or response of any kind  from Cap one telling me they received my application or any kind of communication? And again, where does Cabellas come in?

What was the wording on the Experian alerts about the inquiries?  Do you see the inquiries as HPs on your reports?  It could be that these were SPs and the score change is unrelated, but that would depend on what you're seeing.

Aa others echoed alot of people use Cap1 here and never heard of HP's happening from it.. With that said if this is the case reach out to the EO(executive office) by email you can google email address and express your concerns and ask for them to either remove the inquiries being Cap1 or have them recoded as a soft pull the CRAs won't do anything about it, but if it was indeed Cap1 fault they will make it right although can take a bit of time getting someone to get back to you then to get it addressed if it was their error.  Best of luck!

Typically, an email is sent within ~24 hours.  When the application is submitted, the splash page displays a confirmation that an application was submitted (i.e. further review) in the event that no instant approval was evidenced.
