Today @ 2:50 my phone rings and it comes up as NAVY FEDERAL 888-842-6328
I answer and the rep tells me that he is calling from the fraud department they just got two attempts to use my NFCU AMEX.
Which were both denied because they came from Texas and I am in Florida.
He asked me to verify my DOB and told me that NFCU was going to close the card and issue a new one via FedEx.
He then told me for the protection of my account they were resetting my password and he said hold on.
He came back and said I am going to give you a two-digit code and connect you with the IVR line to verify your identity.
The phone the rings I put him on hold and answer. It says this is NFCU called to verify your identity please enter the two-digit code to which I did and they said thank you for verifying your identity and it hung up and back to the rep. I asked why did you need to reset my password again and he said for security purposes. Turns out they PHISHED me and someone called from NFCU and used all of NFCU's technology like text's from NFCU. They reset my password and got access to my accounts but didn't do anything. I called back a few hours later because I couldn't log in! I feel so violated and if they could talk me in circles they must be screwing others so badly. I had to reset everything and get all new account numbers and credit cards. I am sitting here at a loss for words.
Oh wow... thankful you caught on before any real damage was done!! I assume you've alerted NFCU to this and provided all relevant info so they could further investigate?
Thanks for giving the heads up!

At this point, if you get any calls from a creditor (even if it shows the creditor name on caller ID) you should automatically hang up and call the # on your card.

I was getting A Discover phone # some months back. I always hang up and call The CC lender direct.
NFCU spent 90 mins on the phone with me and the even tracked the IP.
What's sickening is the fact it was from NFCU's exact phone number. I am still trying to piece this together to see where it did or didn't make sense.
