PFD to CA

CA is the one reporting on my CR, so I assume I would PFD them not OC

It is a medical bill that I DO OWE...

I will not pay unless they agree to PFD since I am applying for a FHA loan in the next 6 months

So, I have a letter in front of me, Argent Healthcare Financial Services, Inc

Balance $2502.20
Settlement Offer $1251.10

It states that the client  authorized them to settle for 50% of the balance..blah blah blah

Here is my plan send PFD to Argent (CA) I will agree to pay $1251.10

Just want to know, am I on the right track?  I am new to this, I have other baddies, but figured I would start with this one, since I just got a letter from them in the mail...

Anyone have luck with Argent HFS, Inc and PFD?

Thanks
Courtney

Re: PFD to CA

Ok, so I called the OC, the hospital that I owe, and they don't even know what a PFD letter is, even the girls supervisor had no clue.

She told me to bring her the PFD letter tomorrow morning and they will look over it.  She said if she agreed to delete it, do I take the letter they give me acknowledging to delete it from me CR's and contact EX EQ and TU, or do they have to contact the CR's.  She didn't know how to delete it basically after agreeing to do so?

What do I tell her?  Should she contact the CA, or after agreeing to delete my acct after PIF, does she contact the EX EQ and TU?

So confused..please help!!

Re: PFD to CA

courtney, the term PFD(Pay for Delete) is term used here. It's not generally known, & I'm not surprised they have never heard the term.

It appears that the hospital still owns your account, but has turned it over to a collection agency.

You take your letter WITH cashier's check in hand(if you've explained that you want to pay in full, and in turn THEY will instruct the CA to delete the collection from all your cr's.

If they agree, make part of the PFD arrangements to give you an original duplicate letter, on hospital letterhead, instructing CA to delete from the CR's the baddie on your account. This is just "insurance" for you in case the CA says they never got the payment, or some other lame excuse.

I was successful for getting 3 collections removed from my CR's doing just that.

Let us know how it turns out, and good luck. Smiley Happy

Re: PFD to CA

I am so tempted to do that as well.  Does it really impact your scores?  I have a collection account that is being paid through my chapter 13.  However, the amount the trustee is going to pay will NOT PIF.  So since it is a local credit union and I have money available once again, I am seriously thinking of going to this cu and giving them the remaining money owed on this account.  (was 185.00 now down to 91.22)  in exchange for complete deletion from my Equifax and Experian accounts (TU already deleted)  The trustee is only planning to send them another 22.00 in the next 4months.  I am impatient and don't want to wait that long to get up my scores.  Comments. . . .

Re: PFD to CA

I say yes, it would not hurt, PFD means it won't be on your CR's at all from what I understand much better than a PIF right...sorry I am new to this too!  I refuse to just do PIF since I need the PFD because I am going for an FHA loan within the next few months.

Hopefully some others will post too

Re: PFD to CA

I think(my opinion only) that a collection is a major baddie, bordering on a fatal baddie.

I know that the collections I had on my CR's eliminated me from all but the sub-prime, low cl, high interest cards. Once they were gone, it was like a new world opened up for me.

Sorry but I can't help you on your BK question

Re: PFD to CA

Courtney, if I may suggest talk to the head of the collection dept of the hospital before you go to the bank and get a cashier's check. An offer to PIF is a GREAT incentive to delete the account completely off your credit records.

But they are not required to do so. They may come back to you and say "we will mark it paid on your CR, but will not(or cannot) delete the account. And a paid collection is ALMOST as bad as an open collection.

It worked for me. I hope it does for you.

Re: PFD to CA

Granny, Don't mess with anything that is in the bankruptcy... there is already an agreeement in place .  And you have the clout of the bankruptcy court to back that up.
