I have an American Express account as reported by Amex to CRA. Details as follows:
4000 balance reported.
4000 limit reported.
2000 Past Due reported.
No payment history included. No lates.
Status: Charged Off
Status as of: May 2019
Closed by grantor
Closed June 2017
I entered in to a settle for less repayment agreement with them four months ago. I have made several substantial payments in accordance with the arrangement (auto deducted). I have not seen the balance change on the CRA, although the last status changes monthly. Also the "past due" amount is curious to me, but it might represent the amount remaining on the settlement balance, although it is not an accurate match either.
A couple questions, then I may have a follow up:
1) Any idea why there is a past due amount listed, on a closed account, that does not match the settlement terms?
2) Why is there a past due amount at all, if I am current on the terms of the payment agreement and have been for months?
3) Why no payment history? Is that typical? Not complaining about that.
Thoughts?
The payments should be credited to the account. But once final payment has been made, Amex will update the CRA to C/O, settled for less then owed, and zero out the balance.

Yes, you would think they will do thst, but you would also think they would have updated the balance the last four months during which they processed payments.
Additional info: I actually made a lump sum payment of the balance due on the agreement 10 days ago. Still no update to the CRA, although that is notterribly surprising. What IS surprising are the other things I noted, namely no balance change each month, but a monthly touch of the file by American Express....
