Transunion used in IL?

I live in IL and was told that the Transunion FICO is weighted more heavily in this region of the U.S than Equifax or Experian. I sort of believe it because whenever I am denied for something Transunion is always listed as the source that was used in the determination. Any thoughts?

That's a good question, I always wondered if the CRA's are somewhat regional when lenders in your area pull.    I live in Mass. and it seems like Experian is the pull of choice.

Yes, pulls can be regional. TU is big on the West Coast, EQ is Midwest, and EX out East.

It seems lately though that more and more creditors are using EX.. I would say TU is the least used overall. YMMV is big with who pulls what. While we can confidently say X company will pull Y CRA, there is always a chance a different CRA will be pulled.

Re: Transunion used in IL?

Thanks. I'm looking to secure a mortgage in the next few months and just needed to know who I should stay focused on. I'll continue to check all 3 scores, I just found it strange that here in IL Transunion seems to be the source for everything. (Who is YMMV?)
Do you know of any credit monitoring services for Transunion other than True Credit? I would like something like Equifax Score Watch that will report my real Transunion FICO. Thanks much Smiley Happy

While you should always focus on all three... this is MOST important when applying for a mortage. Almost all mortgage lenders will pull all three.

Also, please read the scoring 101 thread. Smiley Happy
