Help needed on NJ based CUs

Want to open a Checking and Savings with a Credit Union. Have an account with a Bank now but it's conservative and I've a feeling that CUs can do much more than a bank. Credit is Fair with zero negatives. Chexsystems is clear.

Any suggestions on a CU which can also offer a decent line or credit or signature loan along with Checking/Saving accounts?

Well, I don't know any NJ based CU, but the Federal CU such as State Department, PenFed, are easy enough to join and are popular with lots of folks here.

SDFCU is perhaps the easiest to join, won't do a HP on your credit unless you apply for a direct credit product.

PenFed, on the otherhand, will HP for your basic checking/savings account, but you can use the same HP for a credit product app.
