Re: Out of state US Bank Checking Account

You can't open a checking or savings if you don't live where they have branches. The exception is if you already have one of their other products that doesn't require a checking or savings with them. Then, they'll allow it.

And they call themselves US Bank, shouldn't they have at least one branch in each State then? lol

They're working on it!  They just opened a Charlotte branch in a NC expansion, and they're eyeballing other states. From what I understand, they had to get out from under some regulatory scrutiny before they could start expanding.

Bank of America doesn't have retail branches in every state; I guess its time for a name change.

Re: Out of state US Bank Checking Account

It's funny because when i was much younger I had  small town Bank that of course didn't have branches everywhere, and you found that out quickly while traveling afar. Though back then you couldn't avoid ATM fees as easily as you can now. So when I reached my 20's I decideed that I should open an account with at a Bank that has a larger footprint, that way I'd have a Bank no matter where i went. So I thought.

Bank of America and U.S. Bank were among the few who touted that type coverage area. Only to find out there were some gaps in theat coverage map.

Re: Out of state US Bank Checking Account

This is old topic, but as 1 other person said, I believe there is a workaround by starting a self directed investment account first.

That account can be opened by anyone in the US. So I opened one from Florida.. Waited a couple days then logged in, and opened a checking account from inside my accounts page.

After applying, I got a confirmation page with my new checking account number. But I have not received email yet or welcome package. It's been only a couple days though. Seems ok, but hoping it goes through so I can work on that $300 SUB
