So last friday I initiated an ACH transfer at Chase. It was meant to be a transfer from Chase to Alliant CU, but I accidentally got the order reversed, which ended up transfering from Alliant CU to Chase, causing an overdraft of around $1k at Alliant (they call this "Courtesy Pay").
Once I noticed this on Monday I immediately made a transfer back to the correct direction, which will be completed by the next business day.
Am I at risk of being reported to CHEX for this overdraft?
I'd call as soon as the bank opens and admit your boo boo. Catch it early. If you've had no past history with NSF'/OD's. They usually fix things. One of the main entries for Chex is overdrafts.
I agree with @FireMedic1 that you should call ASAP. Be sure to point out--and have them verify by looking at your activity--that you accidentally transferred in the wrong direction, and corrected it as soon as you realized it. Once they realize that that's what happened, I'd be very surprised if there were any negative ramifications. If this isn't an honest mistake, what is?!
