My account was approved today. I wish I found this thread earlier but I joined via ACC for $8.

CSP wouldn't fund unless it was $5 though. $200 wouldn't work for some reason. Joined for that $100 bank bonus for the referral, the 5% APR up to $500, and the quarterly FICO 2.

@randomguy1, Congrats ... I am very happy with this CU.

Maxed the $500 @5% and also maxed the Holiday savings acct..

Thanks to @Gmood1 & @AllZero for all the infoSmiley Happy

Funding always works best with MasterCard .. I use Citi's DC. (Never a cash advance fee)

@M_Smart007  Glad you are happy with this CU Smiley Happy. I still need to become a member.

Funding was only $10 because it was a cash advance. Note to self, if it gets denied at a larger amount, it's a cash advance. Two $10 fees for funding both savings and checking. derp.

How does the Holiday savings account work with them? Is there a target date you need to keep it in until? I looked it up online but the details that I found were a little bit vague. Thanks in advance.

Re: Service Credit Union Mebership

@randomguy1

So I think, you can deposit anytime, I know you can withdraw anytime as I tested this.

I can't remember what happens around the Holidays? @Gmood1 knows more about this than ISmiley Happy

As you probably have read;

HOLIDAY CLUB ACCOUNT

Earn dividends in a dedicated holiday fund

At Service Credit Union, we believe the holidays are a time to give generously—not a time to stress over shopping bills. So we make it easy with our Holiday Club account, which lets you make regular deposits all year long. When December rolls around, your gift budget is in the bag.

And it’s not just December: You can use a Holiday Club account to save for any special event—earning 3.00% APY* up to $3,000 then .25% APY* for minimum average daily balances of $3,000.01. If you don’t happen to be near the North Pole or one of our branches, you can contribute online or by mail, or set up payroll deductions.

You can set up a special high-dividend savings account to set aside for the holidays or any special event. You decide how much you want to save, then make regular deposits. Open an account online, by phone or in branch.

  • Have your funds transferred automatically.
  • Make transfers online, through payroll deduction, at a branch or by mail.

Re: Service Credit Union Mebership

Service also has a branch in the Walmart in Seabrook, NH...  I havent been in HRO for years.. Im not their target demographic and the last few times iv been in there even when it is mostly dead, I was ignored.... Actually had a better experience with the Maha reps that were there in the parking lot on a different day than the actual HRO staff... not a retiree looking to buy a 28k HF rig... Also has turned me off to the hobby in general..

Unfortunately AES closed and was bought out by HRO.... Both AES, Lentini, and others were respectful, polite, and helpful and didnt give me issues having a nonham parent pay for equipment when I first started ...

Though I do miss eating at DB Coopers..

Re: Service Credit Union Mebership

reading this thread ALMOST gets me to want to join.  I do like having a CC with each bank I am with too. Which is why I will likely close SECU and AOD at some point. I am hesitant to join SCU since have been striking out lately with "too much credit".

I love this CU and it looks like they are ready for some growth!

I voted for it. Easy choice since a federal charter would greatly expand their options for membership.
