Trying to get a retroactive forbearance from fedloan

I have now sent 2 emails to them through there online portal trying to ask about retractive forbearance and recieved nothing back. Just wondering if the government shut down could be effecting there replies or if anyone else had experience with them and could give me any pointers? I have 7 late payments i am trying to get covered via retractive forebearance. I believe i read they can only cover 6 but either way that should significantly increase my credit.

Re: Trying to get a retroactive forbearance from fedloan

Hi,
Maybe, to process things, but it's unlikely that they couldn't answer you. Unfortunately, FedLoan Servicing is probably just choosing not to answer you. My ratio is probably 1 out of every 5 messages actually gets answered and out of those answers less than 25% are accurate or helpful, lol! If you want an answer for sure, call them, bypass the broken record that answers the phone and speak to an account specialist. Then keep calling until you get someone who says yes. Because they really, really like to say no or I'll look into that to make you go away.
If that doesn't work, get the student loan Ombudsman involved or file a complaint with the CFPB. You might not get the answer you're looking for but at least you'll be getting an answer they have you after really looking at your file.

Retroactive forbearance can go as far back as 6 months.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

fedloan is my servicer, too, and I've always found it better to call them.

800+ for all 3 CRAs.

Student loan forgiveness/discharge FINALLY complete.
