I know you guys are all hard at work with your credit goals. Have you progressed as far as you hoped? Were there any unforeseen expenses that cropped up and may have thrown you off schedule? Hope you are staying safe during the quarantine!
As a reminder, participation in these monthly check-ins is optional but encouraged. The goal is to help keep you on track, so feel free to post your progress updates here. This is a no-judge zone; feel free to say what's keeping you up at night or give yourself a Kudo for having it all together.
Did you hit any potholes or speedbumps? Achieve some milestones, either small or mighty? Change your goals or add new ones?
Let us know how you're doing!
There is no July thread yet but I am checking in anyway. My goal is a 745 Experian Vantage3. My current score is a 741, down from 745. The main reason is because I applied for 2 new credit cards - I was approved for a Robinhood Gold with a $10k credit limit, and I was denied for a WellsFargo OneKey card. I now have 5 inquiries in the last year on Experian. Other scores: 741 Experian Fico8 (down from 754 last month), 762 TransUnion Fico8 (down from 765), and 795 Equifax Fico8 (up from 789). It's crazy that Equifax is so much higher. Anyways, I would be at my goal if it weren't for applying for new cards.
Lots of things happened last month creditwise. I paid off around 20k of credit card debt, dropping my util to under 9%. I also increased my overall credit limit to 50k thanks to a CLI on my Amex. That particular card jumped from 5k to 15k. My Disco cards are now 11k and 18.5k due to some CLIs.
The big surprise was an EE on my last collection acct. It was scheduled to drop off TU in October of 2026. I disputed it 2 months ago and TU reported as accurate. Then suddenly last month it simply disappeared and my score jumped from 650 to 709 😊. This was the only score I was worried about. Now I simply have to wait out the my late payments from 2020.... Almost there.
My plan now is to continue gardening, no new credit cards, just CLIs on the existing ones and good behavior. I will be buying a car soon, so that'll restart my garden clock. Happy July!
Hi, everyone! Happy July.
My BILT card reached 3 months old earlier this month and I saw a significant jump in my scores. EX8 is up 5 to 749, EQ8 is up 12 to 773, and TU8 is up 7 points to 771.
BILT also refreshed my EX9 on the 1st (independent of the updates Wells Fargo gives), and that's now up to 772.
I've decided to shelve my Cash+ application until January 2026. Unfortunately, I'm also eyeing the Amex BCP. Gardening's tough, y'all.
See you in August!
