So I closed my oldest account, which was a current Capital One Venture account with a $5000 cl. This was the worst hate love relationship around. Pulled my EQ score before which was at 693, and just pulled it today after it reported closed. I actually saw an increase to 698 on EQ from this site!
So everyone was right! There was no effect on my aaoa!!!
Thanks MyFIco friends!! :-)
YEAH! It was my first card ever that I got in 06/2007. It was just a real damn hassle 90% of the time I had it. They are completely inflexible and hell bent on serving subprime so they can get huge APRs and fee income from defaulters. Oh well....you will certainly feel less burdened once you have moved on. I had that card almost eight years!!!!
No there would be no effect to AAoA it stays on file for 10 years from now. The only thing that the closing will prob affect is a few fakos that use AAoOA in their calcs (CK is one of them)
Mine's was my first rebuilder card and will be a year old Sept. I will cancel it before af hits. It's served its purpose!

Congrats on closing! Unfortunately, I still need my CapOne for now, but I will probably try for CLI and PC next month. When the CC quits serving it's purpose for me, I'll move on. Anyway, glad you outgrew yours!
It's not AA that is the issue it would be possible util %
^ This. Apparently your gains exceeded whatver hit to utilization you took.
Doesn't it feel good to tell them "kiss off?"
My biggest annoyance with them was the "teeth pulling" in order for the cards to grow with the others, but always lagging.
