Ir probably would be a good idea to stay away from the forums and especially from the approvals section. Remind yourself that if you don't stop, you may eventually harm your credit by having your lenders take action against you for aggressive credit-seeking. I'm sure you would not want that to happen after the hard work you have done in building your credit.

I couldn't agree more with humu!

Sadly, I do think that is the key

Re: Applying for Credit Cards Addiction

Stop coming here (I did it for a stretch last year).  Under your admitted circumstance you coming here is no different than an alcoholic hitting the bar each day.

Re: Applying for Credit Cards Addiction

Everyone has good points. But what really matters, because it could harshly affect you is can you not overspend?

If you love the rush, I get it I've been there. It honestly is always something they never gets old to me but I will over spend if I open more and more cards at certain times of the year.

I would highly recommend contact each of the bureaus and locking or freezing your credit file. This way you have to manually get out of the app and go to another site and unl

Re: Applying for Credit Cards Addiction

I hear you. I had to seriously take a break from the Approvals board.

I've spent a long time with no credit and last fall got the Merrick card. Well since finding the forums here I now have uhmm, more than a handfull.

I'm sure the inquiries will hurt, but the good thing is they were all in a span of like 4-6 weeks so they'll age off together. But my AAoA was hardly affected. It went from 10+ years to about 8.9 years. So still okay. My Merrick was maxed though due to some car repairs and I went on a spending spree with new accounts (I know, I know), but will get my utilization down to under 15% by the end of this month.

It WAS such a rush to see those approvals, even for low limits. But I'm done for now. I hope to get a car this year and get my cards to grow a bit. I've never been interested in owning a home but am thinking I might go for it in about 5 years. I'd love to be over 750 Smiley Happy

Re: Applying for Credit Cards Addiction

I quit drinking almost 25 years ago. Since I did all my drinking in bars and taverns, I haven't been in a bar or tavern since. Remove the temptation, in this case the forum, and it becomes much easier to resist the pull.
