I pulled the trigger on the Chase Marriott card and got as 7-10 business day message. In the past this has been a denial for me but is this always the case? What is the automated line to check your application status? I'm sure my overall credit with chase is way up there, but given the high signup and 5/24 rules coming up for co-brands I felt like it was now or never.
Update: actually I misread the response. It says if the card is approved I will get it in 7-10 business days. I got the email saying they will let me know in 30 days.
18004367927 lol i have that puppy memorized. its been the same thing for everyone i know, no instant approvals most of the time, auto line says 30 days...about 2 weeks thru its approved and a week later the card comes.

So basically there is no reason for me to spend time calling the line in the first two weeks, because it usually takes that long for review?

Correct. In some cases it can be quicker than a week or so, but I've seen past 15+ days for not only Marriott but other co-branded applications (Hyatt, United, etc). You could periodically check the status line once a week, and since you have Chase.com for your other CCs, you can check there as well.
Just FYI, our Chase prediction ball fell and cracked (essentially shattered), so there will be no way for anyone here to tell you how long it will take exactly. As a data point, Irish's application for Hyatt was submitted on 2/11 and he just recently found out about his approval. Another member -Cal- applied for Marriott on 2/18 and he's still waiting.

Yea, I was vaguely aware that they were taking awhile to get back to people. I figured its better to apply now and start the process in hopes of getting an approval back before April. I still feel the stress when I press the submit button and wait those 20 seconds before the screen tells me the result. You would think that would wear off after awhile, but I've been doing this for almost three years now and still get that.

I read on FT that someone talked to a Chase CSR that says they are very backed up with applications and supposedly have cut the hours of the CSRs and that's what is causing the backups. Apparently they have been swamped since word got out that the cobranded cards wil fall under the 5/24. Who knows if that's all true but expect to wait a bit before you get a definitive answer.

Sadly I was hoping to make some marriott stays next week. Heh. I gopt a fastrack to gold offer where I will get gold with four paid stays. In the alternative I can buy gold with 25k points. Not sure the route I will go.

I think you did the smart thing in applying sooner than later considering the long wait in most cases. And, I see where you're coming from - the anxiety thing when clicking submit and watching the spinny little circle and then ... wonmp womp... Pending / 7-10 days message. Then, you're like *crap*! Well, time to knit another sweater or make a quilt! LOL Actually, all of my Chase applications go into pending these days anymore and they all have varied in legth of time with an approval.
Worse case scenario (if not approved), see if you can have them reconsider by shifting CL from another card (in the event you're close to max exposure or whatnot). Whatever you do, call only the status line...not verification, not lending. But, hopefully good news.

Yea, I will just sit tight and wait for a response with only calls to the automated line. This will be my last chase app for two years at least. I may go for the discover It. Other than that I think I'm on time out until the summer.

More often than not, 7-10 days hasn't been positive for other members. But I'd just wait it out and see what happens.
