You don't get my money and bring my credit down for 7 years!

I agree, 7 years is a really long time and I too think that if you pay it and make good on you debt that it should be removed from your credit report. *Sigh*... if only it were that easy.

Re: Discover... Sigh

Same boat here. I'm quite confused. I've worked so hard to rebuild my credit and with astronomical jumps from my EQ and TU scores, I figured I'd try to get some better cards than what I have now. I finally responded to a Discover invite, Amex everyday card, Barclay's, and the Saks store card and got instant denials from all of them. My TU is a 760 (which I just found out here today and that's a lot higher than I even thought) and my EQ is a 667. I understand Amex, because they pulled from Ex, which is a lowly 610. What am I missing here?

Barclay is probably the only one that pulled TU but anything North of 600 and you should be good... Did you call the recon number?

Thanks for such a quick response! I haven't called the recon number yet. I will try tomorrow morning. Just realized that Discover pulled TU and EX. Is it worth trying recon? With 9 inquiries now, I guess I have to lay low and make the best of the cards I have.

Re: Discover... Sigh

Thank you guys so much for your help! After a 3 minute recon call, I was approved for a $1000 line. I was hoping for more, but I'm thrilled to be approved and not waste a hp. The rep asked me a few questions about an old charge off (first premier), employment and income and then commended me on cleaning up my credit. Thanks again, guys!
