As far as i know the only way to avoid a 2nd hard inquiry is to have 2 windows open and apply within 10 seconds of one another. Click click! This is according to the Credit Plugs on YouTube from last year so ymmv.

😳
@Anonymous congrats on your new membership and credit card! IMHO it really doesn't matter if the first card has a $500 SL or $5K SL, the relationship building is the same. I would suggest using the card as you mentioned and build the history one month at a time. I believe the cards with $1K SL (I had a MR with a $1K limit) pretty much only get a first CLI to a max of $3K. If I'm incorrect, someone will weigh in.
The most important thing is that you have the membership and the card, and you are now on your way my friend.
If you are going for a CLI after 91 days and 3 full statements and you think you want to try for a second card, then go for the card first and then the CLI attempt. The large CL's will come and as we say a zillion times, take care of Navy and they will take care of you! I look forward to following your journey and enjoy that new card!!

@ficobuilder923 - This has been found to be unreliable, unfortunately. Gotta love the YouTube misinformation sometimes. So, folks can try whatever hack may be advertised elsewhere, but not end up suprised if two HPs occur 🤷♂️

Yes for sure!!! I will surely post my experience as the months unfold! But hey even 3k is better than nothing! I will follow your advice and go for the second card after my 91 days any 3 statements! And double back for a CLI thank you again!

Definitely risky but it has been done by many. I agree in that @Jazee could try it but expect to get hard pulled twice and be surprised if only one showed up.
Mod cut - not here please @ficobuilder923. Please be mindful of the myFICO Forums TOS.
On a different note I'm seriously thinking about applying for NFCU Platinum now that the 0% SUB is back. I'm wondering if anyone is still getting 25k SLs on Platinum (or any card for that matter)? I should fit the profile to get it (TU9 795, 150k combined income, dti 22%, revolving util 13%, 15yr nfcu relationship) and am itching to pull the trigger now that my heloc has closed. For some reason it's reporting as REVOLVING and I was under the impression that helocs over 50k reported as installment loans but surprise! This is a good impetus to go for higher limits if I want to max out the heloc (eg down payment on a vacay house) and not feel the wrath of our credit overlords if utilization can stay under 30%. Would really be nice to get add that platinum to the stable along with MR Amex (7k) and Flagship Visa (29k) to complete the trifecta! One concern is that it hasn't been a year yet since opening Flagship (10.5 months) but hoping it won't matter.
@Anonymous wrote:Hey all! So I just got into NFCU and on the same day I applied for one of their credit cards. I was approved instantly for $1,000
but I figure I have to start somewhere! My dreams and goals are to one day get anywhere between $20,000-$50,000 in available credit with navy fed. What would you advise my absolute best route to take in doing so? I'm currently at the bottom of the barrel with my thousand bucks..
I was thinking having a weekly deposit of $360 into my checking account with them, and just letting it sit just for the sake of using their products and developing some type of relationship with them. For my $1,000 credit card I was thinking using it heavily for the next 91 days.. almost maxing it out monthly but paying the balance in full BEFORE the statement date in hopes I yield a high CLI come my 91/3
I have read where others would request a CLI normally get 3x their limit in my case $3,000 but also apply for a second card, canceling your first card and combining your balances. Would this be a good method? Which route should I take first? Which card should I apply for as a second card. Rewards don't mean much I just want the high limits. Any advice is greatly appreciated !!
Several people have had success recently with recons of starting limits at Navy. It's not guaranteed to work, but the worst they will do is leave you at $1k. They won't pull your credit again, so there's really nothing to lose. I think one person did it by sending a secure message in which they politely explained in some detail how they wanted to use their new Navy card as their daily driver for around $X per month of spend, and the SL wasn't enough to comfortably cover that. As I recall, that was one of the super successful recons. I'll see if I can find the post.

I know this thread is huge, and we have some newer visitors, so i wanted to put this up so that maybe it will help with questions...
Navy is the best CU ever (as if we on here didn't know that) lol
1. Navy is mostly concerned with DTI and history w/them for approvals, not inq, util or score sensative.
Dirty profiles can be approved, and if your DTI is in check or really low, you could get a large SL... YMMV
Clean profiles tend to get lower APR's, and higher incomes do tend to start with better SL's provided DTI in check.
Eligibilty - Armed services (active or veterans) Immediate family (mom/dad, bro/sis, or grandparent) aunt/uncle not elig. Sponsored by a member of Navy, Backdoor thru Navy league currently closed.
2. Navy uses Fico9. As far as pulls, most commonly we see TU for new cards, and EQ for CLI's and new loan pulls. Fico is refreshed on the website around the 4th-7th of each month, and the SP was done at the end of the previous month. EX is rare, and only if they can not access the other 2.
3. You can have a maximum of 3 cards with Navy, spread out by 91/3 for approval (maybe 6 months if dirty profile) Max limit is 50k per card, except Flagship which is 80k
4. All the card have the same underwriting to get approved for, Only exceptions is that Flagship has a Min 5k SL
5. CLI requests are eligible at 91/3, unless you have been approved for one then it is 180 days. Any CLI request over 25k has a greater potential to be asked for POI. We are starting to see a lot of SP CLI's, not sure how long that will last. Old saying for Navy is expect the HP, be happy if it's an SP.
6. Each card is seperate, so provided it's been 91/3 or 180 if approved, you can ask for a CLI on all your cards same day
How mucn you get will depend on DTI/history, and how much your internal limit with them is. (no they will not tell us what that number is, so you just have to ask for what you want and see what happens)
7. CLOC (checking line of credit) is a loan product, so it will most likely pull EQ. Most never have to use it for it to show on your reports.
It is nice to have the overdraft protection, but will cost you an HP, so decide wisely.
8. Auto/Home Mostly the same with DTI/History being the main factors. Please reach out in those sub-forums for more info.
Look forward to hearing of all your Navy successes, and we are here to help with your questions too
Well, I can't find the one particular post I was thinking of, but here's a successful recon post, here's another, and here's a recon that took the SL from $5k to $25k! Good luck!
@Anonymous wrote:Hi Allzero, thank you for that information. Regarding my recent application for Amex More Reward (AMR), does that mean I have to wait for say 91 days for the CLI? So each CLI doesn't affect the other account like Amex does or they do? Thanks.
@Anonymous I missed your question. I hope you got your answers from the other members?
