Re: US Bank pre approval

No, no history. I'm not in a rush to get the card and unless Capital One comes out with a 5% top category card I'm not in a rush to get any other cards, so I'll happily wait.

I wasn't pre approved for the Altitude Connect (probably too many recent inquiries - I'm currently 2/6 and 4/12) but I'm trying to figure out how strict their 0/6 and 1/12 rules are - theres definitely some data points that suggest it's flexible.

I'm thinking of applying for Altitude Connect.  Can you provide some more data points other than your inquiries?  FICO scores? Number of accounts, UTI profile individual and total?

Re: US Bank pre approval

FICO ~780, 5 accounts, ~55k TCL, ultra low utilization, 30 years with authorized users and 4 with just personal accounts, recent inquiries in feb, march, april, and july.

Re: US Bank pre approval

Where did you go for the pre-approval?  I have a US Bank Deposit account. Granted my account is only 2 months old and my FICO probably isn't high enough to get any offer from them but my score will be changing signficantly in the coming month.  Both when I'm not logged in and when I'm logged in, I only see "Apply" buttons for all their cards.

@Jazee if you mean where to go for USB pre-approval (sorry, hard to tell with wording above) simply click on the USB link for Connect. USB has pre-approval options for a couple cards, definitely Connect and GO but not Cash+. Not sure about the remaining cards.

FICO 8: EQ 712 | EX 711 | TU 706
Discover $10k (AU) | Wayfair $4.5k | AAA Daily Advantage $4.2k | Citizens Bank Cash Back+ | USB Altitude Connect $2k | Target $1k

Ah ha!  It was my ad blocker plugin that was blogging the pre-approval banner! All 3 cards I'm interested in now have pre-approvals (3 different banks.) This was the one I thought there was no-pre approval.  Thank you! Now I can lessen my chances of getting an unecessary hard pull.

@Jazee You're welcome Smiley Happy Happy to help. I'm not comfortable applying for anything without a pre-approval atm so this was pretty important to me. Good luck!

I think the 0/6, 1/12 with US Bank is more of a suggestion. They are very conservative and too many new accounts will hurt your chances, but that doesn't seem to be a hard rule.

I was 0/6, 2/12 when I was approved for the Cash+ with no prior relationship. I got a $2k starting limit, which I considered low compared to my other cards, but I saw other people here, some with scores as good as or better than mine, getting $500 SLs. Later got a good CLI (after a HP) to $10k.

I believe I was 0/6, 3/12 when approved for the Shopper Cash Rewards with a $7k SL.

Re: US Bank pre approval

Yeah, I might try my pre approval again when I'm 1/6, 4/12.

Re: US Bank pre approval

Well I just tried the pre approval again and it went to a screen saying my application is under review, I should expect to be reached out to in 7-10 days. Interesting, I didn't know they did that for pre approvals. Makes me a little worried it went in as a full application.
