I just got approved for this exact card from them a week or two ago. No pre approved offers from them or anything. I've been a full member (I'm active duty) with them for a little over 3 years now, had a secured card with them for about the same length. I just recently closed it, apped for that classic card, and instantly approved for 2k limit. The apr is high, my credit is fair, but I don't necessarily think this is a rebuilding card with them. That's what they have their secured cards for. Plus it's my understanding that this classic gets periodically reviewed to be automatically upgraded to a higher tiered card with them. That's all this classic is, is just a lower tiered card they offer.
It's "higher" than their secured accounts, but yet not as fancy as their world cards.Ditto. I cold app'd for the Classic Amex. It's a rebuilder that has the ability to be upgraded to the World Cards. High APR, no BT, no Cash Advance. That's ok, I have Cap1 for BT and I don't plan on carrying balances and avoid cash advance like the plague. It's an in with USAA that I desperately wanted for the long haul.
Cool thing is, if you use USAA checking, payments to the card are lightening fast.
+1 on all of the above!
And yep, the payments from a USAA checking are smoking fast... I refreshed the screen on my last payment and it was not reflected, but I spent 30-45 seconds looking over my checking, then I went back to the credit card and the payment was reflected, both in the ledger balance and the available credit as well.
Not "instant", but darn near close (less than 60 seconds for me). ![]()
Just a note to add if you're looking for "Premium Perks", you might want to avoid the Visa.
As far as I know, USAA doesn't offer a Signature Visa at all, regardless of how high your credit line is. It's not that big a deal to me (I have a Cap One Visa Sig and have never used the 'perks') but to some folks it might make a difference. ![]()
