Re: question about chase credit cards I applied for.

YaY!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Awesome news! That's a great SL. Now, we tell you about the 3xCLI. With Amex on the 61st day of your account... you can apply for a CLI (credit like increase) of three times your SL. Yep, you can apply for up to 3x the SL.. total would be #30,000. They can counter for less than 3x but usually don't. Awesokme, right?

Cash advance... they are not good except in dire circumstances. They start charging interest the minute you get the advance. Not good.

I would recon Chase. You have nothing to lose, and possibly a lot to gain.

Hey... now you should post in Credit Card Approvals... Tell them your news!  I am so happy for you!

Re: question about chase credit cards I applied for.

I'd leave Amex out of it. Just sing Chase's praises. I got a BCP the same day I got the CSP. Good card. Now that the gas quarter has ended for Discover, I'll use it for that and I'll use it for groceries once that Disc 5% quarter ends.

Re: question about chase credit cards I applied for.

Hi. I saw your message about Chase Recon. You might get cut off a couple of times before you actually speak to someone who doesn't cut you off. I don't know why that is. Just be completely friendly and make your case in a positive way. The CSR will probably say she's leaving the line for a couple of minutes and will come back with a decision. If you are denied, stay friendly and point out that your FICO numbers have only been going one way - up and that you haven't made a single mistake regarding on-time payments. I did exactly that and the CSR took another couple of minutes off and came back with an approval.

As for Amex, the other day I did exactly what is suggested throughout the forums. On the 61st day after approval, I apped for a CLI and my original SL was tripled, as I'd asked it to be. If you wait another 6 months after that, it will probably be tripled again, unless the results of that first CLI would put the second one too far above what Amex considers your limit. On the same day (actually 10 minutes after the Amex CLI) I apped for a Discover CLI and, using the double dip line, I got a 250% bump. I find Discover to be a lot more liberal with SLs and CLIs. But, YMMV.

Re: question about chase credit cards I applied for.

@SJRN what is this shoprunner offered by AMEX says I can enroll but is it really free or do I have to sign up and have to pay the membership fee of $79 dollars a year from what I read online?? and is it worth it or no to enroll with shoprunner?

Re: question about chase credit cards I applied for.

There are many good posts on myFICO, also many online. This looks like a good one to google...    Magnify Money How (and why) to Request a Credit Limit Increase with American Express

You have a couple months to learn the ropes.

Re: question about chase credit cards I applied for.

It's done entirely online from your account page. It took me about 70 seconds to do. Count 61 days from the date you're approved. On that day, or any day thereafter, you can app for the CLI. Just make sure that in the box in which they're asking you how big a CLI you're requesting, you enter triple your current CL. If you enter less, that's what you'll get. If you enter more than triple, you won't get that.

Re: question about chase credit cards I applied for.

I think I'd just recon Chase. Ask if there is more info you can provide to get denial overturned. Bringing up Amex might not be good. It will be good to show your history with Amex, Chase will definitely like that for when you go for the CSP in the future. For right now, I wouldn"t mention that you even applied for Amex. Chase has your credit reports from before the Amex HP. Thats good, less inquiries. If they let you have the Freedom based on the initial HP, awesome. If still no, wait 6mos, apply again.
