First Approval - Apple Card!

Hey myFICO family!

Though I've been (religiously!) reading the forums for a few years now, I'm happy to post my own approval Smiley Happy I've started my personal credit history with the Apple Card, which was instantly approved for $1,000 at 18.99%!

The SL is plenty for my current usage, and I know it can grow with routine use, and I was pleasantly surprised with the APR not being higher, which I can only assume is thanks to the AU accounts which have generated some score. (Still going to PIF monthly Smiley Happy)

GS pulled TransUnion at 722 FICO (from the Credit Score Notice) with 0 inquiries, and an AoOA (the AU account) of 2 years. Still waiting on the AU accounts to update on Experian for its FICO, but I assume it should be somewhat similar, save for the few points difference due to the hard pull. Further DPs as follows : AAoA : 2 yrs, AoYA : 2 yrs, Util : 0 pct.

I've learned so, so much from all of you over the past few years, and couldn't be happier to learn so much more in the future! I don't really have much of a need for a thick file just yet, so I plan to garden (hello Garden Club!) until this card gets to a year old and the inquiry becomes un-scoreable. I might go for a Chase Freedom Unlimited or a Fidelity Rewards VS then, but your advice and thoughts are much appreciated! 🎉

Re: First Approval - Apple Card!

Congratulations on your Apple Card approval! It sounds like a great SL for a first card, and a very nice interest rate, should you ever choose to carry a balance. May it be the first of many positive approvals that happen for you.

Congrats! That's a really nice first card, and a good limit.

As a thin/young file, the hard pull might cost up to 20 points.

You need at least a year history of personal credit history to have a real chance with Chase, but if you plan to garden that long you should have a good shot. I've been told the Fidelity Rewards card is also hard to get on a thin/young file, plus it's a VISA Signature so they'll want to see other cards with $5000+ CLs in your file, so you might want to come back to that one later. If you're just looking for a 2% card, there are others that are friendlier.

Re: First Approval - Apple Card!

Congratulations on your Apple Card approval! I also started my credit history with it and it has been an excellent card to build my credit history with. It has become my highest limit card which doesn't usually happen with your typical starter cards.
