Someone posted their approval with AMEX Centurion with the score of 680s (all across three CBs) on whogavemecredit,  but wow...you can get approved with those scores?  I would def. love to have one myself, but initiation fee of $7.5k + annual fee of $2.5k is pretty hefty for me.

LOL, I can tell you I would not waste 10K on a piece of plastic even if I could afford the fees, there are much better areas to plunk 10K down.

gdale, totally worth it, its not plastic..anodized titanium ooh ah. Smiley Happy

I think the Black AmEx Centurion is a specialty product, that is not a part of the normal stable of offerings by the company.

I am aware that many high-profile celebrities now carry the card, and many of them are unlikely to have cultivated the credit score and history to qualify for high-end cards.

Such clients may be qualified, based more on their earnings, wealth, and spending power, rather than their personal credit scores.

It may also be true that AmEx issues the cards to such people, in order to capture the high status exposure that might otherwise go to a competitor's product.

Being Rich and Famous has it's privileges - which could include holding a fancy card, that one might not otherwise qualify for, with FICO scores alone.

Absolutely Correct !! -

I also doubt that the type of people who actually qualify for the AmEx Centurion, are likely to associate themselves with the kind of people who would be terribly impressed by it.

Like the old saying goes:  When you've truly arrived - you wont need to announce it.

I think the approval criteria are much more based on wealth and spending than on credit score.   Worrying about credit scores is for the little people!

I have to disagree with that statement Smiley Frustrated    Even the so called High Rollers need a pretty good score to get credit

over the years many financial people have talked about how a lot of time the rich and famous have TERRIBLE credit... sometimes by not even there own doing becasue so many of them use money managers that don't pay things on time and what not... I don't think that is a far stretched statement AT ALL.

I mean Toni Braxton did just finalize a supposed $50 MILLION BK 7 to turn around IN THE MONTH and buy ON MORTGAGE a 3.5? Million dollar house!!!

Bethenny Frankel just last week had a credit (financial someone on the show) and she herself said she had NO CLUE what her credit score was!
