Barclay's Apple Rewards Card

I originally got this card to pay for a new MacBook Pro (0% interest over 18 months).  I paid off the Macbook in the 18 months and only have used the card a few times since to keep it active.

As silly as it sounds, I'm almost afraid to use the card even knowing I can pay it off at the end of the month because of the statrospheric APR (like 29%).  Plus the rewards are lousy.

I used to get e-mails occasionally from Barclays saying "from 6/1-7/31 use your Apple card and receive a %0 APR for whatver months", so I kept the card, thinking I would eventually get a new iPad/iPhone/whatever.

I haven't gotten one of these promo e-mails in about a year.

Does anyone else have this card?  Have you gotten promo e-mails lately?  Wondering if the new Sachs card is going to put the kabosh on the APR deals.  If so I might has well cancel.

Re: Barclay's Apple Rewards Card

IMO this card's day has come and gone. I'd keep it, use it for something small so it doesn't screw with your AAOC and get the new apple card.

Re: Barclay's Apple Rewards Card

I have the card and it’s an absolutely garbage bank. Had it for about 2.5 years same CL and if you want a CLI it’s a HP. My scores have gone up since applying. TU is now a 705 and have 4 inquiries and 3 fall off by January 2020. Hopefully Barclays deal ends soon and GS can take over and offer better deals.

Re: Barclay's Apple Rewards Card

I'm only hanging on to mine so I can transfer the limit to my Uber card... whenever I'm able to get it.

Otherwise I don't see much use for it.  Like you, I used it to get 0% financing on Macbooks for my wife and me, so it's served its purpose.

Re: Barclay's Apple Rewards Card

I just got the new 11 pro and used the Apple upgrade financing option 0% with 3% on my Apple Card. It’s 24 month option. In my opinion much better option for me.

Re: Barclay's Apple Rewards Card

I've had this card since 2015 and I've been sitting at 2k limit since I got when I bought my iMac. Even when I used it heavy it never grew. I keep it open because every year I call in and get a interest rate reduction. Currently sitting at 19%. Card is useless for me but I keep it in the sock drawer.

Re: Barclay's Apple Rewards Card

I also got the card to finance my Macbook Pro for 18m 0% about 2 years ago - paid off in a year.

BUT

I was looking at Apple Watches for Xmas and on the Apple.com site just yeasterday - it listed 2 Apple Card payment types -

1) New Apple Card and get 3% cash back

or

2) Barclays Apple Card for 0%

https://www.apple.com/shop/browse/financing

If you want 0% on an Apple purchase - it was always available on the Barclay's card everytime I have looked. Not as knowledgeable on the new Apple Card as far as when 0% promos are available . . . . .

Re: Barclay's Apple Rewards Card

Well for those of you with this card, check your e-mail.  Up to 24 months 0% deferred (not 0% interest per se) interest starting 11/20.  Might get the new 16 inch MBP.  I don't know if I was targeted or is it everyone.
