That's very sound advice to push from the bank, rather than pull from the credit card account. I'm absolutely going to do that. I really appreciate that insight! Thank you!
I guess pushing payment is a good idea too. It's just that I never had this problem before, and I assume OP as well. Good thread OP, it's nice to know I am not the only one who had this problem.

I would assume so, because it is automated, and they never bother giving it a second look.

In my case, I would not delete my old account because, as mentioned, I bank with Cap1... and I need the old bank account there to make external transfers. Cap1 does not have the option to remove it as a payment method, even if I only need it for bank to bank transfers.
It's fine to have multiple accounts, you just have to change the payment account to the correct account before hitting the submit button when making manual payments, or just let autopay take care of the payments like I do, haven't had a problem in 1 year + since opening.

Stories like these are the exact reason why I triple check which payment acct I'm using. As it appear that it happens quite often, more than I realized.
Oh, and I do precisely that which is why I was so upset. I am positive that my old acct was not available as an option and they somehow pulled it from their archives or something, but at this point I'll be happy just to have my cards working again. I mean to have my accounts closed after ONE incident is pretty ludicrous, especially since I paid them in full and have never been late.
Simple queston, didnt you get a Cap1 email confirming your account payment? It should list the date, amount and bank for the payment. Look for this email
