Re: Daily Drivers

When not making a SUB or factoring in rotated category cards like discover I carry:

Citi DC - 2% back on non category expenses

Cap 1 Savor - 4% back on Restaurant/Entertainment and 2% back on groceries

Citi TY Premier - 3 TYP back on all travel including gas

Of course, I rotate a couple cards for situational purposes depending on if they will be used that same day. For instance, I only use Venture for hotels.com, care credit for healthcare etc. Obviously, I remove these cards after I have used them for their specific purpose.

That’s essentially all the cards I will carry in my wallet at all times when not making a SUB or using a rotated category. I like to keep things simple.

Re: Daily Drivers

Discover - 5% categories (I also stock up on gift cards to use the rest of the year. Will be dropping a few grand on Costco ones next quarter Smiley Wink

PenFed Pathfinder Amex - 4x points on travel

Target - 5%

NFCU Cash Rewards - 1.5% cash back on everything else

About to switch my "on everything else" card to PenFed Cash Rewards for 2% now that I've paid off all of the 0% balances I had on it.

Re: Daily Drivers

I swap between a few different cards depending on where I'm at and what I'm buying. For gas - currently use the Chase Freedom because of the 5% CB. For groceries - alternate between BCE and Cash Rewards, other purchases - Citi DC.

Re: Daily Drivers

I'm trying to hoard Amex MR points so my daily drivers are the PRG and EDP. I also always keep my Chase Amazon Visa and CO QS on me just in case.

Re: Daily Drivers

Right now I have a few which serve unique purposes:

- BECU Visa: regular spend not matching any of these (1.5% CB)

- Discover: Categories (right now, restaurants) (5% CB + %5 CB match)
- Costco Visa: Gas, Costco shopping (4%) (and restaurants (3%) when not Discover)

- AmEx BCE: Grocieries (3% CB)

Re: Daily Drivers

I'm still early in the process of setting up my rotation of cards - I didn't get into CC rewards too deeply until a year ago. Right now, I put just about everything on my Discover IT Miles (still in my first year for miles match, so 3% cash back on everything) and carry my Chase Freedom Unlimited for the rare merchants that don't take Discover. Amex BCE is temporarily SD'd but will come back into the fold after my miles match period is over for groceries. I'd also like to have the Uber Visa and Paypal Cashback Card by then as well.

Re: Daily Drivers

By transaction count, CSR is the leader as I've been traveling (and eating out) a lot lately. It does not win by total spend, however.

Maybe it's just me, but I associate "daily driver" with a card I would use most of the time, and only deviate from with excellent reason. Having 4-5 would seem to dilute the term's meaning.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select
