If you're spending on flights or whatever you should be comparing them either way unless price is of no matter to you.  Either way if you use one of your WF cards to purcahse you can redeem the points against the purchase.  So, where you spend doesn't really matter, what matters is if you can pull points from 2+ cards to payoff the charge.

Right. If you have the points to cover the entire flight, skip the $172  on Priceline and get the $209 on WF with 50% more points.

NO, just use the card on Priceline and erase the purchase with points.

You'll get the 4.5% redemption still doing it that way?

Its perfectly fine to suggest people compare before purchasing, but there is no need to attack wf portal, it usually present the same price as one can get on airline website, which is the same most of the time as the PL. We know PL may have better deals at times, but that doesn't prove WF inflate price.

It was on Priceline.com website directly.

I have the Propel card, so I'm not attacking it. Just suggesting you won't fly thr cheapest using their website. However, with this random small sample exercise, if you have the points to cover the flight, it's cheaper to go WF portal with points rather than pay with CC directly on Priceline, provided you don't care that you are flying United instead of Delta.

I searched on priceline.com website, and I posted the screenshot. As you can see, there is no 172 price. So it is incorrect to suggest using wf portal won't get cheapest price.

Now, I am not saying that 172 is false, I am fairly confident you saw it for sure. I am simply saying 172 is not the CURRENT price. Price changes literally all the time. I ran into situation before that in the span of 10 minutes, the cheapest price jumped 60 on my delta itinerary.

Again, price comparison is great, and no, there is no strong evidence to suggest wf portal will not give you lowest price.

Prices do change instantly.

Go ahead choose RETURE, it will not be DELTA for RETURN. You really need to present the whole facts here. As my prior screenshot showed, WF portal has the delta+united itinerary for 167.

I don't know why you have to insist wf has "higher price" at this point.

Funny you should ask.....That's what got us here in the first place.  If you have 2+ cards w/ WF and different point systems but, know you can redeem them at an increased value where do the points pull from for the higher value?

Does GFar portal auto combine the points from multiple accounts for the increased redemption or is there a trick that needs to happen to get the increased value or decreased points being charged through the portal based on the cards you have automatically?

Since neither of us has a combo lineup w/ WF we're hypothesizing what's a better value.

I read somewhere if you have propel and visa signature, all points are combined automatically and redeem for 150% value. I don't have the set up so I cannot confirm it.

Re: WF Propel how do points work? How does it combine with a cash rewards with other cards?

If you hold the Wells Fargo Visa Signature, you can redeem points earned across all your Go Far Rewards cards at 1.5¢ per point towards airfare which opens up some excellent earning opportunities. For instance, individual family members can apply for a selection of Go Far Rewards earning cards at different times to take advantage of the generous introductory bonus categories, and combining all the points earned free of charge into an account that holds the Wells Fargo Visa Signature. This allows you to redeem all points earned across your Go Far Rewards cards at 1.5¢/1.75¢ per point towards airfare.

This could be an exciting way to help someone plan a dream trip — or perhaps to fund family vacations in the long run. By combining points, you'll never have to worry about points being left behind.

So, I think the biggest issue is the Siggy card earns 1% after the first 6 months but, to get the leveraged redemption you need one.... So, in the case of the OP.... Swapping the Cash card for Signature opens the higher redemption option and then picking up Propel for the 30K points boosts your value from at a minimum of $300 to $450 if I'm reading things correctly.  Also, it would appear that all GF'r accounts bundle under the same login for points to be extracted to cover purchases / redemptions.

Re: WF Propel how do points work? How does it combine with a cash rewards with other cards?

Here is another thing that makes propel+siggy combo better.

Each month, wf Earn more mall has a 5x bonus pt/dollar in store deal (up to 500 or 1000 extra points per card). If you can get 200-400 (on two cards) spending in each months, its 1200-2400 points per month, total 14400 to 28800 points per year.

Now, kicker is these monthly deals are typically at homedepot, lowes, khols, cvs. Which means you can get amazon, google, or some airline gift card with these deals (valued at 10% back). Its fairly easy for me since we spend upward of 10k on amazon each year.

Maybe Priceline needs to present the facts. And WF if their price is different when selecting a return flight.

Nothing is a final price until you get to the checkout screen.  Cursory shopping w/o getting to the finish line is subject to change until you have a confirmation in hand.

I will do a hypothetical flight later, everything except hitting the book button.

Different destinations this time.
