This is an easy peasy bonus to nab. I've been waiting for one in order to entice me to open a WF Checking account. I already have a credit card with them. I filled everything out, only to get the "you must come in person to finish your application." I do have a negative history with them (over 15+ years ago) but not concerning a checking account. I've made an appointment for Monday morning, too see what else they need. Either way, thanks for the info!
I honestly loathe WF, but for 325$ EASY money I opened the account will collect sub and then close account when I am able to wihtout penalty. one of the easiest 325 subs their are and doesn't need to be a true DD as many other ways to move 1k that counts. Altough I did allocate my next week DD to put a portion of paycheck into WF then will transfer all but 500 out, then will transfer that other 500 out when I close said checking account in the future

Do you have any freezes in place? This happened to me. We have accounts with Chase since we have our mortgage with them but didn't mind adding another big bank for a $325 bonus. I apped online but forgot i have all my consumer files locked LexisNexis/Chexsystems etc.. Went in with 2 forms of ID each and got it done that way
ETA: Strangely earlier than that last year I opened a Brokerage and Cash Management Acct. without even thinking about the freezes and had no issues at all doing it online. I'm guessing because they aren't really a bank?

No freezes at this time. I received an email saying they couldn't verify my identity. I could have typed a number in wrong. 🤷 I've got an appointment in branch this morning to get everything sorted, hopefully.

The issue was the old account I had with them in 2007. The system matched all my data but I'd changed my last name to my DH's last name since then, so the application got flagged for further investigation. My checking account has been opened and the deposit made. The app now says I've been a customer since 2007, instead of 2022, when I opened my credit card last year! They merged the accounts.

They 'merged' my profile(s) as well... in my case the older one was a home mortgage dating back to 2001.
The house was foreclosed when I had my financial meltdown back in 2007 so it used to create mixed feelings when I would see the older date - usually at an ATM in the form of a "Happy Anniversary!" message when making a withdrawal - but it's been long enough now (16 years) that I'm mostly over it, LOL.
Fun fact... the checking account I opened was with Wachovia, which later was taken over by Wells Fargo. In spite of my experience with the home loan (which I take responsibility for) they've always been solid when it comes to the checking account; no complaints.
@NoMoreE46 The screen shot below makes me shake my head. Look at the two highlighted parts of the screenshot. I understand in the first part you only need of the ways to avoid the monthly fee. The direct deposit or minimum of $500 as daily balance got it The second highlighted part says no minimum balance requirment. Then what is the $500 daily balance to avoid a monthly fee a non requirement? Add to that their pathetic interest rates on savings accounts and the long laundry list fees they can charge. Wells Fargo and the other big banks to me are useless to me.

Well technically true, but the bank collects $10 when you have not done one of the above 3 lol.. Good ole wells and alot of other banks for that matter. I have no idea why some banks think they can charge for checking these days when so many free options exist. With that said I took the promo as well had a 10 dollar DD go in last week from work and next one will hit next wed for over 1k from partial redirect of paycheck will keep $550ish in there until I can close the account once the bonus hits. I hate keeping track of checking accounts that charge a service fee if it is 500 or 1k or whatever isnt kept or dd deposited into acct. monthly.
I understand what you are getting at @AndySoCal. It is almost double speak, but some banks may charge a fee if one doesn't maintain a certain daily minimum in addition to requiring a DD. Maybe this is WF's confusing way of marketing...
Anyone can yank their $ DD as soon as it becomes available from WF.^*^ Typically, I have not been maintaining a min. daily balance. To avoid the $10 monthly service fee, I DD $251 every two weeks.
^*^ WF has been rolling out Early Pay Day. My WF DD comes on Wednesdays instead of Fridays. I will be migrating most of my pay from my local CU (get my DD on Thursdays) to WF now because of this.

@NoMoreE46 @CreditCuriosity Where I bank I do not have to be mindfull of a fee if my balance goes below a certain amount or direct deposits to keep from being charged a fee. The bank does not charge the fee. I also get better savings rates than the big banks (which isnt hard to do). I have had 2 early on direct deposits for quite a while. I ususally will get an email on Wednesday afternoon when I get paid on Friday. The bank (not the CU) is in my siggy if your interested.
