TBH, this card more resemble its namesake now. I always thought it an odd point system for an Uber card anyways.
There are plenty of cards out there that are comparable to the older version.
I know that most people who had this didn't want an AF, but if you get the right card that fee can be offset by the point multipliers.
O well I also got the email with the bad news about the Uber card. Not going to close the account because it has 12K credit line and does not charge fee for the card, will cash out 200 dollars in cash back that I have earned since I open the card back in dec 2018, stele have an Hard pull that will stay on my transunion cr to dec 2020. I Will now starting using the WF propel card for my cell phone each month. I will take advantage of 3 percent cash advance into my checking account for 15 months when need. Will put card in the sock draw for now.
Jusg for info I have the TD bank visa cash plus visa card it gives 3 percent on dining out and 2 percent for grocery stores., The Discover card gives 5 percent for dining up to total 1500 for the sumer months.
I got this dreaded email today as well. Mine converts over in Feb 20... card was opened in March 19. I'm now switching to my Savor One. My only good use was using this card for food purchases for 4% cash back. My issue isn't really the changes in categories but more that we will not receive any cash back... just Uber credits. I do not use Uber enough to warrant that change...
@Anonymous wrote:iirc, it is not so simple there with the redemption of these WF points. Only via gift cards, right?
Wrong. You can redeem as statement credit, or transfer to WF checking or savings etc ...or have a check cut and sent. Only reason IMO to do gift card is often they offer discounts on gift cards. For example currently gift cards are 10% off. (100dollar gift card cost 90)

Funny. I took the bait and went for this card (just under two years ago) because of the 4% dining. While it wasn't bad and I had no issues, ..the card just seemed retarded and quickly made it's way to my sock drawer. I think it'll just go deeper in the sock drawer now that it's officially retarded with these new changes.
Currently has a recurring montly charge going to it of around $3.50 on average. I think I'll have that go to another card and point my occassinal uber rides to this card. maybe once a quarter a small charge.
Here is a screenshot ...meat of the email they sent me today:
Looks like my Costco cheque is going to get bigger again come February.
I'm probably keeping this for mobile protection. I might also be able to use UberCash for airport trips if it comes to that. SD it is, or closure if Barclays CLD this from reduced usage.
I highly considered Propel last year when getting this card. The problem with Propel is that it is using the AMEX network. I might still consider it since it still includes homestays like Airbnb, which Uber/Barclays seems to have nerfed as well. EDIT: They still have "homeshare" category.
