Hello Cassie,

Looks like my resiliency score went from 62 to 58 on the latest report. WooHoo.

Resiliency Score - Should I care?

Added a FICO subscription for the first time in a while, and saw this delightful new measure - Resiliency.

Should I care?  How much import is it given by lenders?  Any impact to the FICO algorithms?

  • Should I Care? No, not really.
  • How much import is it given by lenders? We have no idea if any lenders use it, or how much they care about it. It's speculated that it might be used as a "tiebreaker" when someone's credit teeters between risky/safe, but probably otherwise isn't used.
  • Any impact to the FICO algorithms? No. It's a standalone score/product.
  • My opinion which you didn't ask for but I'm giving you anyways: It's a useless score because it does not account for income or job security whatsoever. Someone who's been unemployed since they got laid off in 2007 and only gets money by robbing banks could have a better "resiliency score" than someone who's been at their career for 35 years and makes $400k salary. The lenders themselves are in a far superior position to speculate on your resiliency, since unlike FICO, they actually do have your income and employment history. So they almost certainly (in my opinion) do their own risk assessment and ignore this FICO resiliency score.

  • Should I Care? No, not really.

All this score seems good for right now is telling us which profile data was more likely to be seen in the run-up to default sometime around Dec 2007 to June 2009.

That's the time period of the Great Recession, and the time frame of the credit profile data set that FICO used to set the predictors for this Resilience Score. (Read their explanation)

FICO 8 uses a profile data set from 2006-2008 in the same way.

Breaking News

@GApeachy  and  @joeyv1985  makin' a move!

Dmessina666 reigns supreme with

the The Golden Chalice and The Golden Sword !!!

tacpoly wins The Bat award for scoring a 39 with an EQ 8 850!

Lulah is still sole possessor of the Gold Key with a score of 37 !

  • FICO issued a press release about this score and it triggered a flurry of articles in the press.
  • The Washington Post published an article about this 'new score'.
  • Plenty more articles on Google here.
  • Many article authors are wondering if/when consumers will be able to obtain their score. (lol)
  • The first score was submitted to this thread on March 29, 2020.
  • New Podcast Interview: A VP of Scores at FICO talks about the new FICO Resilience Index.

This Resilience Index score is included with a myFICO subscription. It will be shown on the dashboard.

And as always - lower rating (higher number) doesn't mean that person has a bad credit profile in any way.

This score is really sensitive to balance amounts and it doesn't matter if you have a 600 or 850.

Re: FICO Score Stress Indicators/Indexes

Here's my update this month:

  • Aggregate balance increase: +$314 ($1109 to $1423)
  • Aggregate percentage increase:  +1% (3% to 4%)
  • Number of accounts with balances: -1 (from 3-of-4 to 2-of-4 revolving)

Nothing changed this month from last - same 55, same 2 red flags.

You'll get to Member status pretty quick.

Take a look at the table here for an estimate of what it takes to reach each rank:

Community Ranks

It uses Total Posts, Minutes online, and number of Sign-Ins.

Thanks for your Resilience Index score data, @LP007 !  I'll add it to the leaderboard!
